Techstart Grants supports ambitious founders across Northern Ireland to develop and test novel business ideas. The grants help early-stage innovators explore the commercial potential of their concepts by enabling them to validate assumptions, gather evidence and build the foundations for scalable businesses.
Techstart Grants is managed by Techstart Ventures LLP as part of a wider programme that combines grants, equity investment and expert support for early-stage companies.
Our team brings deep commercial and technical experience, and since 2014 we have reviewed more than 2,000 grant applications and awarded over 600 grants, providing valuable insight into how innovative ideas are tested, validated and shaped in the real world. To date, more than £9 million in grant funding has been managed through the programme.
Techstart Ventures acts as a first-cheque investor for extraordinary founders pursuing uncapped global opportunities. Across Northern Ireland and Scotland, Techstart has circa £200 million of capital under management. In Northern Ireland investments have been made in over 100 companies to date. More than half of these opportunities originated through the grant fund, demonstrating the grant fund’s role in contributing to a strong pipeline of high-potential startups. Notable businesses that have initiated in this grant fund and have gone on to raise investment from ourselves and/or others include TeamFeePay, Bellamoon, Stormharvester and Overwatch.
